Guiding Good Choices
The Downeast Children’s Council is pleased to offer a new FREE 5 week parenting series in January.  “Guiding Good Choices” is for all parents and guardians of children in grades 4-8. Using an interactive program in a lively and open atmosphere, parents will learn specific strategies to help their children avoid problem behaviors and develop into healthy adults. You will learn how to strengthen family bonds, set a clear family position on drugs, teach children skills they will need to make healthy choices and increase children's involvement in the family.

“Relatives as Parents Group Expands to Washington County”
The Downeast Children’s Council is pleased to announce that a new monthly “Relatives As Parents” group will begin meeting in Washington County. If you want to share your story, meet others in your situation, learn about resources and activities, join us at Downeast Health Services, Machias. Each month, we will provide participants with an opportunity to discuss and learn from each other about a specific topic specific to “Parenting the Second Time Around”.

Weekly Group for Dads, Step-Dads & Grand-Dads
The Hancock County Children’s Council is pleased to announce that our Parenting with Dignity® series has been changed from a monthly group to a weekly group on Tuesday evenings.  Five men began the series last night, and are inviting other dads, step-dads and grandfathers to join them.  A special make-up session will be held for anyone who wishes to join this group.  If you are interested in participating in this FREE series, please call.

United Way Supports RealCare® Parenting in Hancock County
The Hancock County Children’s Council is pleased to announce continued financial support from the United Way of Eastern Maine to provide the RealCare® parenting program to students in Hancock County schools.  The Children’s Council RealCare® parenting program provides middle school and high school students throughout Hancock County with an opportunity to learn how to appropriately care for an infant in order to prevent injury and neglect. The Children’s Council offers this program to all Hancock County middle schools and high schools.  Reservations for this program are on a first-come, first-reserved basis.Relatives as Parents
