Beginning December 6th, in Machias--Downeast Health is pleased to offer the 8-week parenting series on Positive Parenting for Younger Children. Topics will include effective praise and encouragement, limit setting and positive discipline. This series offers adults tools they can use to nurture, guide and respond to toddlers in sensitive ways that bring about optimal development.
Positive Parenting for Younger Children will be offered at the Machias Memorial High School (1 Bull Dog Lane, Machias). Sessions are on Tuesdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m., beginning on December 6th.

Real Care® parenting in Hancock County |

Downeast Health Services is pleased to announce continued financial support from the United Way of Eastern Maine to provide the Real Care® parenting program to students in Hancock County schools. The Real Care® parenting program provides middle school and high school students throughout Hancock County with an opportunity to learn how to appropriately care for an infant in order to prevent injury and neglect. Since 2001, over 2,000 students from 23 Hancock County community schools have participated in this 48-hour simulated parenting experience using computerized life-like infants.
